15 Best Games For Elderly On iPad

Introduction

Some people would agree that playing games is an addictive pastime. I’m not one of those people. I find that games are best played when you are handed a digital controller with no strings attached, or on your television screen while watching TV. But sometimes you want something to occupy your mind without having to physically get out of the house, and elderly people are no exception!

15 Best Games For Elderly

1. Draw Something

This is a hugely popular app amongst elderly people because it has a simple interface and the dice equivalent of the word bubble is always available. In other words, using this app requires virtually no thought at all to finish a round, which is great because elderly people should be spending less time thinking and more time doing it!

2. Crossy Road

I know Crossy Road sounds like a Disney movie but it’s a free app that you can play on your iPhone or iPad! This game has become very popular in the past few months due to various viral videos that have been made showing how poorly some people play while others kill their opponents by simply swiping their finger across the screen to cross the road. It’s a great way to get people motivated and interested in playing the game while there is still time to enjoy it!

3. Candy Crush Saga

This is one of the most popular and well known games and because it has so many levels and so much hype behind it, elderly people can use this app as a way to keep their mind sharp while they’re lounging around doing other things! I also recommend getting the Candy Crush Soda Saga app because you should try to beat all of them, even if you only get 10% though!

4. SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition Free

This is an app that normally costs $6.99 but it is on sale right now for $2.99 and it’s an upgrade to the original SimCity 4. This game is highly for people that like simulations such as designing cities or managing them, and this is a great way to keep you occupied for hours!

5. Plants vs Zombies 2

Plants vs Zombies 2 has gone crazy popular recently with the release of new updates and challenges. The game has evolved considerably since the first installment, but there are so many different strategies involved that it’s impossible to master the gameplay without having played it for a while. The graphics are awesome and one of the reasons why this game is so big!

6. Toy Story Mania

Toy Story Mania is getting quite popular because of how enjoyable it can be, and you need to stop watching people play because you will get overwhelmed with nostalgia when you play it! If you love playing ride-on toys with your child then this is the app for you! It certainly isn’t meant for elderly people due to its intense pressure and time involved, although some studies have shown that children tend to lose interest in games when they get older.

7. Lili-Ani

Currently priced at $0.99, Lili-Ani is one of the most popular Japanese anime games because it’s an app that makes you think quickly and never lets you get complacent! If you’re old enough to remember the original Sega Genesis games then this is the perfect replacement for them!

8.Asphalt 7: Heat

On the other hand, if you love racing games then what are you waiting for? This game is so intense that it’s almost like watching an Indy 500 race! You can play it on your iPad or iPhone and the graphics are amazing. This has become one of my favorite racing games because of its incredible visual quality and intense gameplay!

9. Candy Crush Soda Saga

If anything, Candy Crush Soda Saga is more addicting than its previous edition because it has levels that require you to make each soda flavor appear on the screen at one time which adds a whole new dimension to the game. You can also play it on your iPhone or iPad so you can have it with you when you are traveling!

10. Angry Birds 2

I’ve saved the best for last because not only is Angry Birds 2 my favorite game right now, but it’s also one of the most popular games in the world. I don’t know how many times I’ve played this game over the last couple of months but I always end up playing for hours on end. It’s total quality gameplay is sure to keep your interest for hours on end!

11. Duet Game Free

Duet Game is another great game that has recently been updated for iOS 8.1. The original was one of my favorite games ever and it’s such a great surprise that they’ve made an iPad version that’s even better! If you like strategy games then this is for you!

12. Candy Crush Soda Saga 2

Candy Crush Soda Saga 2 is very similar to the original but it has some awesome new features that have been added with iOS 8.1. There are now 200 additional fun levels to play on, plus the game finished being updated on July 17th, 2015 so it is now completely free

13. Fallout Shelter

Fallout Shelter is an interesting game because it’s free and it is very popular, so I think that is what makes it so good! There is not much available on the internet about this game, but you play as a Vault dweller who must build their shelter underground to save themselves from the radioactive wastelands. It’s an interesting concept but many people don’t like it because of its addictive qualities.

14. Game of War: Fire Age

This is a popular strategy game that has been around for a few years and it’s fairly fun, although it can get boring after playing it for too long. The graphics aren’t great and there could be more available, but the overall gameplay is fairly well done and you can play this on your iPhone or iPad so you don’t have to spend any money!

15. Final Fantasy Record Keeper

Final Fantasy Record Keeper is one of the most well known Final Fantasy games ever made, and it’s very similar to the original Final Fantasy because you start off by creating a party to take into battle.

Conclusion

The game variety for tablets for seniors is enormous. Just about any game that is popular with adults can be made to fit the needs of the elderly. I chose some of the most recent games released on tablets because they are perfect for killing time and also targeting specific mental skills that adults may lose as they age, such as spatial reasoning and memory.  If you take the time to look at game ratings then you will be able to find out which ones are best for your elderly loved ones. The best thing you can do is ask them, and if they can’t tell you their favorite game then it’s probably because they’re forgetting where things are in the house.

This is why I made this post, because when my family told me about their favorite games I had no idea what they were talking about when they asked me what I wanted to play on our iPad.
